“Taste of the Town”

Taste of the Town

Driving northeast from Harrisburg we arrive in New York, home of Dr. Brown’s Root Beer. “It can be found in Jewish delicatessens and upscale supermarkets around the United States.

Created in 1869, according to Wikipedia, its marketing director, Harry Gold used celery and sugar to create his own brand of soda.

Many in the Jewish community apparently would not drink Coca-Cola because it wasnt considered Kosher, so Dr. Brown’s became popular with those in the Jewish community in New York.

It is a bit watery and lacks some “zing” in the product, but it is better,

in my opinion, then celery soda.

Drink Up!
